Double Chocolate Almond Biscotti

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 lb butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 tablespoon amaretto (optional)
- 1 cup blanched slivered almond
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350°.
- 2 combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
- 3 beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extracts.
- 4 mix in the flour mixture in stages. stir in almonds and chocolate chips.
- 5 shape dough into 2 logs 3 inches wide and about 12-14 inches long.
- 6 place on ungreased baking sheet 3 inches apart.
- 7 bake for 20-30 minutes.
- 8 cool slightly and cut into 3/4-inch diagonal slices.
- 9 bake again for 10 minutes each side.
- 10 cool on a wire racks.
