Double Chocolate Almond Biscotti

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 lb butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 tablespoon amaretto (optional)
  • 1 cup blanched slivered almond
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°.
  • 2 combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  • 3 beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extracts.
  • 4 mix in the flour mixture in stages. stir in almonds and chocolate chips.
  • 5 shape dough into 2 logs 3 inches wide and about 12-14 inches long.
  • 6 place on ungreased baking sheet 3 inches apart.
  • 7 bake for 20-30 minutes.
  • 8 cool slightly and cut into 3/4-inch diagonal slices.
  • 9 bake again for 10 minutes each side.
  • 10 cool on a wire racks.
