Braised Gnocchi In Tomato Sausage Sauce

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 34 ounces gnocchi, whole wheat prepackaged
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin
  • 1 lb italian sausage
  • 4 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces whole tomatoes, cento is the preferred brand
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup basil, fresh chopped
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary, dried

Recipe

  • 1 heat an oven proof skillet over medium heat, add the oil.
  • 2 add gnocchi and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 3 remove gnocchi to a large bowl and set aside.
  • 4 brown sausage, breaking it into small pieces. once cooked, add to the gnocchi.
  • 5 add tomato and garlic to the pan, and cook for 2 minutes breaking apart the whole tomato pieces.
  • 6 stir in 1/2 of the basil and all of the rosemary. then add gnocchi mixture.
  • 7 top with the cheese, and broil on hi for 4 minutes or until brown.
  • 8 sprinkle remaining basil on top and serve.
