Braised Gnocchi In Tomato Sausage Sauce

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 34 ounces gnocchi, whole wheat prepackaged
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin
- 1 lb italian sausage
- 4 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 28 ounces whole tomatoes, cento is the preferred brand
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup basil, fresh chopped
- 1 teaspoon rosemary, dried
Recipe
- 1 heat an oven proof skillet over medium heat, add the oil.
- 2 add gnocchi and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3 remove gnocchi to a large bowl and set aside.
- 4 brown sausage, breaking it into small pieces. once cooked, add to the gnocchi.
- 5 add tomato and garlic to the pan, and cook for 2 minutes breaking apart the whole tomato pieces.
- 6 stir in 1/2 of the basil and all of the rosemary. then add gnocchi mixture.
- 7 top with the cheese, and broil on hi for 4 minutes or until brown.
- 8 sprinkle remaining basil on top and serve.
