Bolognese Sauce

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 lb italian sausage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans tomatoes
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons italian seasoning mix
  • 3 -4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 cup sugar

Recipe

  • 1 saute the onion in the olive oil until the onion starts to get shiny.
  • 2 stir in sausage and ground beef. brown completely. drain off any excess oil.
  • 3 add in red wine, heat to boiling. reduce heat to a simmer.
  • 4 stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, and all spices and sugar.
  • 5 simmer for an hour, stirring occassionally.
