Dressed Up Italian Green Beans

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 1/2 lbs fresh green beans
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (8 ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried italian seasoning
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 wash beans, trim ends and remove strings.
  • 2 combine beans and water in a dutch oven.
  • 3 bring to a boil.
  • 4 cover, reduce heat and simmer 6 to 8 minutes until crisp-tender.
  • 5 drain.
  • 6 plunge into ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • 7 drain beans and set aside.
  • 8 saute mushrooms and next 7 ingredients in oil in a dutch oven.
  • 9 stir in beans and cook until thoroughly heated.
  • 10 sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
