Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes And Ham

Ingredients

- 2 cups ham, cubed small
- 5 large potatoes, peeled and sliced (about 1/4 thick)
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup flour
- 4 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350.
- 2 cut ham into small cubes and set aside.
- 3 peel and slice potatoes, put them in a bowl with enough water to cover them.
- 4 heat the butter in a medium sized pan over medium heat.
- 5 add the onions and cook until soft but not brown.
- 6 add the flour and stir to make a roux.
- 7 add the milk and stir constantly.
- 8 once it comes to a gentle boil turn heat down and let the sauce cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionaly.
- 9 stir in the italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 10 in a greased 2 quart baking dish put a layer of half the potatoes followed by half the ham.
- 11 pour half the sauce followed by half a cup of cheese.
- 12 make another layer of potatoes and ham and pour the remaining sauce over the top.
- 13 cover and bake at 350 for 50 minutes.
- 14 remove from oven and top with remaining cheese and bake for another 20 minute or until the potatoes are tender.
